Tomorrow we head for Inverness, my first visit there is not one I would like to look back on fondly.
But in all honesty, from what I remember of that day, and there isn't a lot, we didn't actually play as poorly as the 3-0 scoreline would have you think.
But moving away from that and almost a year on we meet in the league for the first time since 2002 when we were also beaten 3-0. Thistle welcome back Liam Buchanan tomorrow after he missed last week's centenary game with Dunfermline due to his red card against Raith the week previous and although Thistle won comfortably against the Pars without their main man, there seemed to be something lacking about us going forward.
Fromn whats been said the home side may shuffle the pack tomorro0w given their midweek cup exertions against Motherwell with Andy Barrowman being a possible starter. Largely ineffective in the time he was on the park against us in the Alba Cup tie at Firhill, he still scored against us in the shootout that ultimately saw Caley through.
Its at times like this when you maybe start to get an idea of how the league is turning out, once everyones played 6 or 7 games and they don't have half the league to play you can see how it will pan out and, albeit with a couple of surprise names in Raith and Ross County up near the top, it's going to be like I predicted, a tight tussle between Thistle, Dundee and Inverness with Dunfermline not far behind and Queen of the South in the middle.
So onto tomorrow, early start for me so it's up at 6.30 AM then get everything sorted shower wise etc. then phone Mick and head up there then the bus into Glasgow and onto the coach up to Inverness for half 12. Good times!
Live long and prosper
